Teal Grid and Lattice

Teal Grid and Lattice
Porcelain Bowl — Teal Grid and Lattice
One-off piece
Wheel-thrown porcelain, approx. 37cm diameter.
Two systems of pattern share the surface: a grid of dotted squares set against a field of overlapping circles, the teal glaze pooling into deep nodes where they intersect. The grid sits as a discrete block, angled across the form, its stepped edge abutting the looser lattice rather than resolving into it.
Hand-decorated; the teal lines are trailed in glaze and stand slightly raised, set against the sandy ground of a locally sourced renewable wood-ash glaze, the two glazes reacting and deepening in colour as they meet in the firing.
Pieces from this series are featured in From the Ground Up: The Transformation of Irish Clay (National Design & Craft Gallery, 2026), a major exhibition bringing together 42 of Ireland's leading ceramic artists, curated by John Goode, who writes: "Irish ceramics are experiencing a remarkable moment."
